Darien Phantoms

The Darien Phantoms is a not-for-profit youth hockey organization for Mite aged (8 and under) travel hockey players. The Darien Phantoms Hockey Club is committed to the ongoing development and promotion of competitive youth amateur hockey in the south/western suburbs of Chicago. The Darien Phantoms compete in the Chicago United Hockey League (CUHL) which is sanctioned by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).  The Phantoms play approximately 24 full-ice league games plus playoffs and is not restricted by a maximum number of full-ice or a minimum number of cross-ice games throughout the season.  

The Darien Phantoms are not affiliated with USA Hockey, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI) or any of their affiliates. 

All Phantoms practices and home games take place at the Darien Sportsplex, 451 Plainfield Rd. Darien, IL 60561.

All players must fill out the uniform pack order form below. The uniforms pack includes: Practice Jersey, Practice Sock, Game Shell, Game Socks, Warm-Up Jacket/Pants.

Due to our current Darien Phantom jerseys being discontinued by the manufacturer, the Phantoms will have new Game Jerseys for the 2024-2025 season! Those jerseys are not included in the uniform pack and will be purchased for an additional fee.

All first year Phantoms and those new to the organization must purchase a set of home and away jerseys ($130 for the home/away set). Returning Phantoms are eligible for 50% off the jersey cost due to only getting one season out of the now discontinued jerseys purchased prior to last season. Returning players should email Equipment Manager, Nick Skweres (equipmentmanager@chicagohawks.com), to obtain the discount code.

Returning players may be able to keep their jersey number from last season. New players will be assigned a jersey number (odd number for odd birth year, even number for even birth year).

Refunds will only be provided for jersey purchases of players who have not been OFFERED a roster spot. Please allow 5-6 weeks for delivery of jerseys. All other pieces of the uniform pack will be available once teams are selected.

It is MANDATORY for all Chicago Hawks/Darien Phantoms athletes to have a Baseline Concussion Test completed prior to the start of the season. NEW THIS YEAR, Once tryouts and team selection is completed, all Chicago Hawks/Darien Phantoms families will receive a unique link for baseline concussion testing. All athletes will take the test at home on their own personal device. Results will be stored and used as a reference point should an injury occur. Your child will NOT be allowed to compete until the test is completed. 

What is ImPACT Neurocognitive Baseline Testing?

Using the ImPACT Neurocognitive computerized software, your son/daughter will complete a series of "brain games" used to measure their level of symptoms, reaction time, verbal and visual memory, and processing speed.

Baseline Testing includes:

• A computerized Baseline ImPACT test used to measure the level of symptoms, reaction time, verbal and visual memory, and processing speed.
• If an injury does occur, results will be used to help athletic trainers and/or medical professionals with a more accurate diagnosis.
• Athletes may be recommended to perform Physical Therapy and further testing based on severity of injury.
